V.O.K. Reports

October 22nd, 2007

Periodically our polls and comments are gathered into presentable, digitally signed and legally traceable documents which are forwarded to your elected state and county officials. We released and forwarded our V.O.K. Report to the following elected officials on October 22nd, 2007 . CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE LIST.

To ensure that your letters and poll results are reviewed as they should be, we have drafted a document named the “RECEIPT OF REVIEW AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT” document. This document is encrypted and has an email submission button locked into it. ANY RECIPIENT of this document can type their name and date into the document and press SUBMIT (within Acrobat Reader) which immediately forwards the report acknowledgment to the V.O.K. inbox, it is as simple as that. Any elected official who has the time to acknowledge your input will have the time to also click submit. We have made this as easy as possible for them.

Check back on 10/26/2007 to view a list of “Responders” and “Non-Responders”.

Here is just one email example of what we are doing to make sure your comments and poll results are reviewed…

Sen. Carol Fukunaga,

Thank you. Our system shows that you have now opened our email addressed to you. At your earliest convenience, please see the last page document of the V.O.K. report titled “RECEIPT OF REVIEW AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT”. While it is our promise to the visitors of our website to deliver their concerns, comments, and poll results to you, the “RECEIPT OF REVIEW AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT” assures site visitors that you acknowledge their input. In addition, your responses to any comments in the report are welcomed. Elected officials who respond prior to 10/26/2007 will be posted as “Responding Senators” on www.voiceofkauai.com, those who fail to read the report will be listed as “Non Responders”. “Non Responders” at any time, may respond and become listed within the “Responding Senators” area. People should know that their elected officials care about their input, and that they are working on their behalf to protect the future of Hawaii. This simple process can contribute.

I don’t want the Superferry, but as you know Lingle and the Legislature is trying to pass a bill.

The legislative branch of government does have the authority to revise a law or enact a new law in response to a court ruling, as long as the revised law or new law is not itself unconstitutional. For example, in United States v. Patryas, 303 U.S. 341 (1938), the United States Supreme Court recognized that Congress had amended a law concerning insurance policies “in order to overcome the effect of the above rulings of the courts,” and applied the law as amended by Congress.
